Ultimate Black Bear Trash Locks
Primacy Solutions' Ultimate Black Bear Trash Locks are the first product to ever be certified as Black Bear Resistant for retrofitting a trash cart*. These straps are a step up from the Original Trash Locks and were designed specifically for retrofitting trash carts to keep black bears out of the cart, especially one that has a lid that is more flexible. They add a third and fourth strap on the sides of the trash can. Each trash can lock has straps that are permanently attached to the can with stainless steel nuts and bolts. They will keep rats, raccoons, possums, and other animals out of your trash. Black bears will not be able to get to your leftovers, so they will move on to an easier food source.
The locks can be undone and re-secured with one hand. Eliminates the need for bungee cords and other tie-downs to keep your garbage where it belongs. If you have problems with wind/weather tipping your trash, or someone backing their car into it, these will keep the trash where it belongs, eliminating a messy cleanup.
The straps are made from high-strength polyester, the buckles have a break-force of nearly 300 lb-force, and the nuts and bolts are all stainless steel.

The bears were getting into work garbage constantly. We now use these new trash lockers, and they work like a charm. The bears are not happy but we are. This is definitely a five star product.
The locks worked even though the bear chewed away at one corner.
FYI. If you are in an area of frequent black bear activity do yourself a favor and purchase the four strap option as from my personal experience the bears can still defeat the two strap solution even though I assumed it would stop the bears. I had to upgrade to the four strap solution.
I live in Brooklyn. As of 2026 we are required to use city approved trash bins. Previously we put trash bags on the curb, which I always thought was a terrible idea. However, my property isn't equipped with the space to store three large trash bins, a recycling bin and a compost bin, so I need to keep my bins on the sidewalk in front of my building. Because of this many people use my bins for their trash, even my own neighbors, and my bins are constantly full. On top of that, these strangers and random people don't separate their trash and put things in the wrong trash bin. Because of this I have been issued many many tickets by the sanitation department. Honestly, my management of the trash has been one of the most annoying and troublesome issues in my life. I put Trashlockers on all the bins. After doing this the first week, the amount of trash in my bins has drooped by 80%. This also means that my tenants can use the trash bins for themselves and have no need to keep trash in their apartments till the bins are next emptied. On top of that, I am hoping I won't be getting any more violations and tickets for having my trash mixed up.
