We are very excited to have the Haw Creek Community Association be the first recipient of a shipment of several thousand dollars of Ultimate Black Bear Trash Locks through our BearSafe program.   Storms Reback, a Haw Creek Board Member,  contacted us last month to let us know they were having serious black bear problems in their valley.  The bears were destroying property and getting into trash.  With the high concentration of bears, the Haw Creek Board wanted to discourage them from coming into the residential areas by securing their trash.  However, some residents are low-income or have fix-incomes and cannot afford to rent bear-resistant containers or purchase retrofit kits for their trash carts.

North Carolina Wildlife and Asheville Sanitation were instrumental in our Black Bear product testing, as such we could not be happier to give back to a community that has given so much to us.  Thank you Storms for being such an advocate for your community and we wish you the best of luck with your efforts to keep your residents, and the bears safe!!

There are too many cases of black bears dying because they ate something out of the trash that made them sick, or they became too dependent on human food waste as a resource. By helping residents secure their food waste, the bears will focus on their natural food resources.
