If you have a rat or mouse problem in your home, you may want to look outside it to see if there is a bigger problem.  Trash cans with broken, loose, warped, or missing lids are an invitation for rats and mice.  With this massive food source readily available it could lead to an infestation of your home when the weather gets cold and they are looking for a warm place to raise their growing family.  Make sure to secure all your trash cans and ask your neighbors to do so as well.
